DOJANG

1.  Show respect in and outside the Dojang.  It is your Dojang where you build your character and strength!

No horsing around or use of fowl language.

Please help keep the dojang neat and clean.

bullet

Do not touch mirrors.

bullet

Put shoes/belongings in hallway or with your parents.

bullet

Please remove rings/watches, jewelry prior to class.

bullet

Do not wear shoes on the mats (including parents). Tae Kwon Do shoes may be worn.  

bullet

No candy, gum, food or drink allowed on the Dojang mats.

bullet

*Please do not smoke in the dojang and/or outside the doors where students have to walk by.

bullet

Please refrain from talking on cell phones during class as it is a    distraction not only to the students, but to other parents as well.

2.  All students must bow upon entering the Dojang, to the instructors, with upper ranks, and with drill partners after sparring.

3.  Show courtesy at all times during class to the instructor and fellow students.

Absolutely no talking when the instructor is talking.

You should answer your instructor with “Yes, Sir/Ma’am” or “No, Sir/Ma’am”.

4.  You must ask to leave the floor for whatever reason during class.

5.  No kicking/swinging the heavy bags, sitting, or laying down during class unless instructed.

6.  Turn away from the instructor when fixing your uniform and/or Di.

7.  Keep your uniform neat and clean.

No eating or playing in uniform.

Remove your Di outside the dojang.

Never wash your Di.  If you do, you must return it to Sensei and he will issue a new one.  The cost of a new Di is $15.

8.  Return all studio equipment to its proper place.  Please do not borrow any equipment without Sensei’s permission.

FELLOW STUDENTS

9.  Good sportsmanship is to be displayed at all times!

Always introduce yourself to new students and make them feel welcome.

Never make fun of or laugh at anyone in class.

bullet

Do not show disgruntled expressions if you are unhappy with whom you are partnered with.

Shake hands with your partner after any drill and/or sparring and say ‘thank you’ or ‘good job’.

10.  Talk to the instructor(s) if there is any problem with another student.

WORKSHEETS

 11.  Do your worksheets on your own, as much as possible.

12.  All S.T.A.R. worksheets need to be turned in by the 15th day of the month in order to receive a star.

13.  Be prepared to answer questions pertaining to your S.T.A.R. sheet.

TRAINING

14.  Practice your techniques and Poomse’s often at home.

15.  Do not try any technique until the instructor has shown it to you.

16.  Do not teach other students without Sensei’s permission.

17.  No sparring without an instructor present.

18.  You are not allowed to use your martial arts on friends, family, etc. to cause harm.  Any use of martial arts outside the Dojang should be reported to Sensei.

19.  Pay attention and focus on what you are instructed to do.

20.  Be enthusiastic about your training and try your best with every kick or drill you do.  Always try 100%!

21.  Do not ask Sensei to be promoted.

22.  Remember to keep your school grades up as they may affect your Di promotion.

23.  If you wish to compete in a tournament, please talk with Sensei.

24.  It is NEVER appropriate  to start a fight and/or be the first to use physical violence.  Your martial arts is to be used as a last resort in a self-defense situation.  If someone tries to pick a fight with you, you should exhaust all other possibilities before using your training.  Walking away, talking to the person, telling an adult and/or person in authority are ways to avoid a confrontation.

25.  Always be aware of your surroundings and trust your instincts about dangerous people and situations. 

 

FEEL FREE TO TALK WITH SENSEI

IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH ANYTHING!!!

 

There may be times where you feel “unexcited” about your training.  Working past this time is important in your training.  This is a time where discipline is important.  Having discipline and perseverance will spill over into other areas of your life.   As with any sport, to be a good martial artist requires repetition.  Repetition is essential to becoming disciplined and promoting quick reflexes.  You will do a kick a thousand times before ever mastering it!
